How do I receive my booking confirmation?
A confirmation email is sent to your registered email address immediately upon completing your online reservation. If you do not receive it within a few minutes, please check your spam folder or contact the Hertz Sri Lanka reservations line.
Can I modify or cancel my reservation?
Yes. Use the Modify/Cancel option on the Reservations page with your booking reference number and the email address used at the time of booking. Cancellation terms vary depending on how far in advance you cancel - please refer to the policy displayed on the Reservations page.
Can I apply a promotional code?
Yes. Enter your promo code in the Promo Code field at any point during the reservation process. The discount is applied immediately before you confirm, so you can see the adjusted rate clearly before completing the booking.
Driver Requirements
What driving licence do I need?
A valid full driving licence issued by your home country is required. For licences not issued in English, an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an Embassy-certified English translation must be presented alongside your original licence at pickup.
What is the minimum age to rent?
21 years for standard vehicle categories. 25 years for premium and luxury categories. Young driver surcharges may apply for drivers under 25 - please confirm at the time of reservation.
Can I add an additional driver?
Yes. Additional drivers must be present at pickup and present their own valid driving licence. An additional driver fee applies and will be confirmed at the time of booking.
At Pickup
What do I need to bring when collecting my car?
Your booking confirmation (printed or on your phone), valid driving licence, International Driving Permit if applicable, valid passport, and a credit card for the security deposit.
What is the security deposit?
A pre-authorisation hold is placed on your credit card at pickup. The amount varies by vehicle category and will be confirmed during the reservation process. The hold is released upon return of the vehicle, subject to the vehicle being returned in the agreed condition.
Is cash accepted at pickup?
A credit card is required for the security deposit pre-authorisation. Payment for the rental itself can be made by cash or card at the time of collection - please confirm the accepted payment methods directly with your chosen branch.
Insurance & Protection
Is insurance included?
Basic third-party liability insurance is included in all Hertz Sri Lanka rentals. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Super CDW, and Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) upgrades are available as optional add-ons and can be selected during the reservation process or at the counter at pickup.
What happens if I have an accident?
Contact Hertz Sri Lanka's emergency line immediately. Do not move the vehicle until advised, and do not admit liability at the scene. Full incident reporting guidance, emergency contact details, and step-by-step instructions are provided in your rental agreement at the time of collection.
Fuel & Returns
What is the fuel policy?
Full-to-full. You collect the vehicle with a full tank and are required to return it full. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than collected, a fuel charge will be applied. Refuelling before return is straightforward - fuel stations are available near all Hertz Sri Lanka branch locations.
Can I return the car to a different location?
One-way rentals between Hertz Sri Lanka branches are available subject to vehicle availability. A one-way fee may apply depending on the route. Select your preferred return location at the time of booking to confirm availability and any applicable charges.
What if I need the car for longer than planned?
Contact Hertz Sri Lanka as soon as you know an extension is needed. Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and the current daily rate. Returning a vehicle significantly later than agreed without prior notice may incur additional charges.
